Frequently Asked Questions - School Trips and Educational Tours
Does our group qualify for an Educational Tour?
Our field trips and educational tours are ideally designed for groups with children *three years old and up. Common types of groups include daycare trips, preschoolers, homeschool groups and elementary school tours.
There is a $100 minimum per group to schedule
*If you have children younger than three, you are welcome to attend any of our play dates this Fall.
What is a "Play Date"?
Faulkner's Pumpkin Farm reserves every Monday morning in October for fall play dates for our families with small children and play groups! Our Monday mornings throughout the Fall are an excellent time to enjoy all of the Farm attractions including a group hayride, Scarecrow Storytime and so much more at your own pace! The best part is you will receive a pie pumpkin included in your Play Date admission (this only happens on the Monday play dates)! Remember, play dates start at 10:30am and you may stay as long as you like- there are no group minimums and no reservations are required!
How long is the educational tour part of the field trip?
One hour with the option to play and picnic before or after your scheduled tour time. Please allow 30 minutes to picnic, up to 45 minutes of supervised free play time, and 15 minutes to pick pumpkins and load buses if your schedule allows.
Do you schedule tours on weekends?
No- but you are welcome to schedule a semi-private "Meet Me at Faulkner's Farm" on the weekends or host a Private Hayride any evening after 6:00pm.
Can we bring a sack lunch?
Yes! Our picnic pavilion is perfect for your group lunch.
Bee Alert: We recommend limiting sweet treats and drinks at the farm which helps us control the bees
Forget something? Packaged snacks and beverages are for sale in the gift shop
Should I visit the farm before our field trip?
Yes, bringing your final headcount and payment to receive your tour stickers in advance is an excellent way to make your arrival at the farm easy and quick on the day of the tour.
Do the kids pay individually or should we make one group payment?
Please collect one payment from everyone in your group. The price is $6.00 *plus tax per person.
Tax exempt Guests: You must present your letter at the time of payment or you will be charged the local and state sales tax
What happens if it rains on our field trip day?
You have many fun options at Faulkner's Pumpkin Farm. In the event of light rain, there are lots of dry places to play. If the weather is severe, we will reschedule or the scarecrow can visit your school and read the story of pumpkin, and each child will receive a pass to visit the farm, and a pumpkin. The price is $6.00 per person.
How should we dress?
Fun on the farm can be a little messy! Outdoor play clothes suitable for farm play in all weather conditions!
Do I need a detailed tour itinerary?
The pumpkin farm is about leisurely learning and educational fun. Being flexible at the farm will guarantee that your trip will be most enjoyable.
Can we arrive early to eat lunch first or play first?
Absolutely, you will want to allow for 30 minutes to eat and approximately 45 minutes to play. You will want to break your large group into small groups of 5-10 for supervised play time. Save the tour attractions (Petting farm, Bugsy the Caterpillar, hayride, reading room, and maze) for group enjoyment but there is plenty of play area equipment to enjoy.
Does everyone get a pumpkin?
Yes, each paid admission will receive a pie pumpkin (3-5 lbs). Visible stickers are required in the pumpkin patch to receive your pumpkins.
When do we get our pumpkins?
Picking pumpkins is the last activity at the farm so the children can easily march their new treasure to the bus. You may want to bring a sharpie marker to write names on pumpkins. Some teachers choose to bring laundry baskets or shopping bags for their pumpkins.
Can I pay the day of the event?
Yes, if you have not pre-paid (recommended), payment is due upon arrival: Visa, Mastercard, Check, and Cash are accepted. No purchase orders will be accepted.

Helpful Field Trip Planning Tips:
- Teachers are encouraged to visit the farm before field trip day to provide a final headcount, gather pumpkin stickers (required proof of admission for each participant) and to handle payment transaction.
- Advise children to dress appropriately for their outdoor learning/play adventure!
- Bee-ware: Discourage students from bringing sweet treats and drinks to help us minimize visits from bees
- Mother Nature is always a planning concern for any outdoor event. We will watch the weather and cancel your tour if there is inclement weather approaching. In this event, Faulkner Farm will reschedule, if at all possible, or come to your classroom with pumpkins, story time and admission passes for students to come to the farm with their families.
